Ever managed to get someone back after they have ended the relationship

Serious question all. My girlfriend of one year finished with me as she saw that long term we weren't progressing due to my inability to move along with the relationship. What was stopping me was rushing and making sure that whatever I did, would be fine with my children and that they would be happy.
I now know that I should have moved quicker, I was trying to be a good dad, and that kids are more resilient.
I tried to convince her one week on, but she was standing by her decision.
So has anyone managed to convince a partner that they should get back?
